Vokes Theatre: Then and Now

Although the Vokes Theatre is often described as "intimate", the second floor administrative offices could only accommodate one person and one cat, but not at the same time. In the summer of 2006, construction of the long-awaited addition to the "office closet" was begun, which will provide an adequate working space for box office and subscription management activities, support for the on-line ticket reservation system, mailing list and database functions, and of course, a more comfortable private lounge for Beatrice (the theatre cat) to spend her time during performances.

The new dormer in these photographs is the first exterior structural change to the building since 1991, when the main lobby was enlarged, and two new restrooms were added.

The brown "Dribley Nibbs" concession booth at right jealously watches the new construction. The lobby-level restrooms with their octagonal windows were built in 1991.
Two new windows will provide sunlight and fresh air for the benefit of the hard-working box office staff. August 6, 2006 (more photographs to come)
